How Much Does my Sim Racing Setup Cost?!

“How much does your sim racing setup cost?”

So I get this question asked a lot. And the simple answer is that I don’t actually know the exact number. So today, I figured I’d go through every single component in my rig, give its price, and add everything together to get the final cost.

Starting with the cockpit itself, I use the Next Level Racing GT-Track and it currently retails for $900. However, I’m sure that in a few months it will be dropping in price since Next Level Racing will be releasing a new flagship cockpit very soon. Regardless, it currently retails for $900 so that’s what I’m going with.

Now let’s talk about my PC. It's always hard to name an exact price since PC parts often go up and down in value, but I believe I paid around the ballpark of $1200 for it, so let’s just go with that. For those of you who are curious, here are the links to all of my PC components:

Before I forget about it, let me mention the ButtKicker which is attached to the bottom of the seat. For those of you who don’t know, this is a device that makes my seat vibrate to simulate the feel of a real car. I bought it over a year ago for $160, but it now retails for $200, so I’m gonna say it costs $200.

My wheelbase is the Thrustmaster TS-XW, which as a standalone, retails for $400. Unfortunately, it's been extremely tricky to get a hold of one recently due to supply shortages, so if you’re in the market for a TS-XW, I would be surprised if you could find one for sale at this price. Regardless, it costs $400.

As for the wheel itself, I use two. The Ferrari 599XX Evo Alcantara Edition wheel and the Thrustmaster Sparco Rally wheel. As for the Ferrari wheel, it retails for $200. The Sparco Rally wheel came bundled with the Sparco rally/sequential shifter handbrake, and that bundle retails for $400. I just checked and apparently, this bundle has since been discontinued.

Since these wheels are made from suede and alcantara, I use gloves in order to keep them looking nice. The Fox Racing gloves I use were like $20 on Amazon.

Of course, I can’t forget about the pedals. These are the Thrustmaster T-LCM load cell pedals and they retail for $200. Honestly one of the best bang for your buck items here.

As for my headphones, I have the Thrustmaster Ferrari T-Racing headset. These come bundled with the wheel rim I mentioned a little bit ago and the entire bundle costs $250, so if you do the math, the headphones would cost $50 with the bundle.

Next to the Thrustmaster Sparco sequential shifter, I have the Akina handbrake by 3DRap. A video on this handbrake is coming out this weekend but anyways, the handbrake retails for 180 euros, which is about $210.

Moving right along, the Next Level Racing keyboard and mouse stand retails for $120, and let's add another $20 for the generic Logitech keyboard and mouse.

The part that stands out the most in my sim racing setup is the three large 40 inch TVs. These are made from Insignia and are relatively generic. Currently, they retail for $210, so if you multiply that by three, the screens cost $630.

More impressive than the screen however is the stand holding them up. This would be the Next Level Racing Triple Monitor stand which at $400, is not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, but is an absolute unit that is pretty much a necessity when mounting large screens.

To wrap everything up, I have to account for my VR headset. I use the HTC Vive Pro which came with the full set. It includes the two base stations, the controllers, the headset itself, and a bunch of other things. It currently retails for $1200 on Amazon.

So adding everything up, it comes out to $6150 according to my… debatable calculations. And this doesn’t include taxes, shipping, or anything of that sort. I’m gonna be completely honest, this is actually a lot more expensive than I thought. If you’re interested in hearing my quick thoughts on all of this gear, you can find that in my “2021 sim racing setup tour” video I made a few months back. I’ve also made separate, far more in-depth reviews on a lot of this gear which you can find on my YouTube channel as well if you’re interested.
